Most cars, crossovers and small SUVs fit the Regular GoTreads. Size GoTreads by tire diameter: Regular for tires up to 30 inches, XL for tires over 30 inches and XXL for tires over 40 inches.
| Vehicle | Examples | Typical tire diameter | GoTreads size |
|---|---|---|---|

| Crossovers and small SUVs | Subaru Outback, Forester, Crosstrek, Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V | 27 to 29 in | Regular |
| Midsize SUVs | Toyota Highlander, Ford Explorer, Jeep Grand Cherokee | 29 to 31 in | Regular, or XL if your tires are over 30 in |
| Full-size SUVs and pickups | Chevy Tahoe, Ford F-150, Toyota 4Runner | 31 to 33 in | XL |
| Lifted trucks and Jeeps | Jeep Wrangler on 35s | 33 to 37 in | XL |
How to find your tire diameter #
Look for the size on your tire sidewall, like 225/65R17. Diameter = rim size + 2 × (width × sidewall % ÷ 25.4). For 225/65R17: 17 + 2 × (225 × 0.65 ÷ 25.4) = about 28.5 inches, so the Regular fits.
Online tire size calculators do the same math. Your tires matter more than your vehicle model: the same SUV can come with different wheel and tire packages.
Tips #
- One pair is usually enough to get a car or SUV unstuck in snow, mud or sand.
- All three sizes have the same 50,000 pound per axle weight rating. Longer sizes add traction length and leveling height.
- Between sizes? The longer size gives the tire more runway to climb out.
Compare all three sizes on the size comparison page. For trucks, vans and RVs, see which size for my van and which size for my RV.
